The Alumni Volunteer Corporation (or AVC) is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(7) corporation established in the 2000s to serve and benefit the alumni, volunteers and undergraduates of the Wisconsin Theta Chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.  As outlined within the Grand Chapter Bylaws of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, our duty is to “…serve the alumni and volunteers, as well as serve as a landlord for the undergraduate chapter and provide advice and counsel to the undergraduate chapter…”  Governed by our Board of Trustees, our organization is responsible for four core areas of operation:

  1. Mentoring Undergraduates
    • Serving as advisors for the undergraduate chapter’s executive officers and chapter leaders.
    • Helping shape the direction of the chapter in the areas of recruitment, member development, leadership development and fiscal health.
    • Ensuring long-term planning and stability
  2. Cultivating Alumni and Volunteers
    • Serving as an association for alumni of the chapter and other local SigEps of the Fraternity.
    • Engaging alumni, volunteers and community members to generate new volunteers and donors for support of the chapter.
    • Provide effective communication between the corporation and association membership, undergraduate chapter, parents and alumni and volunteers at large.
  3. Managing All Assets of the Corporation
    • Managing the Chapter House of the Fraternity.
    • Growing and managing all bank, investment and endowment accounts with the Chapter.
    • Planning for future financial and housing needs.
    • Striving for financial stability.
  4. Maintaining Corporate Health
    • Planning and implementing proper fiscal and asset protection practices.
    • Striving for optimal operation strength by growing our existing accounts through charitable giving.
    • Establishing, planning and executing specific fundraising goals.
